Diane Lyons Rigsby

Diane Rigsby has an extensive technology industry background in a wide range of environments. In addition to valuable corporate experience with General Electric and Lexis-Nexis, Diane has devoted almost fifteen years to healthcare IT. Diane’s work has included applications development, technical services and support, e-commerce, large system implementations, corporate acquisitions, collocating data centers, business analytics, designing and installing voice and unified communication systems and taking the lead on strategic planning and building technology infrastructures from the ground up. This vast background in the convergence of business and technology solutions has been instrumental in her most recent work at Capital Hospice where she has built a technology infrastructure that satisfies the abundant need for electronic health records and enhanced quality healthcare delivery along with a competitive advantage in Capital Hospice’s position in the Metro D.C. market. Diane serves on national steering committees and has addressed groups across the country on technical service operations and effectiveness. Originally from New York, Diane relocated to the Washington, D.C. area in 2002.


Dr. Gotthard Saghi-Szabo

Bio:  Dr. Gotthard Saghi-Szabo is the Carnegie Institution's Chief Information Officer. His office is responsible for ensuring that the institution's information system investments are aligned with its mission and strategic objectives. Gotthard has extensive experience in information systems management and development, business process implementation and improvement, and audit compliance.  In this role, Gotthard is responsible for information systems strategic planning, partnerships with external organizations and companies, and the implementation of policies and best practices related to planning, developing, supporting, and maintaining business, scientific computing, networking, and telecommunications services for the Institution.

The Carnegie Institution for Science is a world-class organization for scientific discovery. Working in six scientific departments on the West and East Coasts, Carnegie investigators are leaders in the fields of plant biology, developmental biology, Earth and planetary sciences, astronomy, and global ecology. They seek answers to questions about the structure of the universe, the formation of our solar system and other planetary systems, the behavior and transformation of matter when subjected to extreme conditions, the origin of life, the function of genes, and the development of organisms from single-celled egg to adult.

Gotthard successfully transformed the  IS unit into a dynamic, innovative, result-focused services organization, established a culture of accountability, designed and implemented a comprehensive IS service management methodology. He established the Carnegie Information Systems Internship program which enables DC metropolitan area IS students to work on specific projects under the direction of Carnegie's professional staff. Gotthard holds a Ph.D. degree in Computational Physical Chemistry from University of Maryland at College Park.



Dave Adams

Bio
:  In his position as CTO, Dave Adams is responsible for defining Fishbowl's technical vision. In addition, he leads the technical production operations of the company and oversees Fishbowl's technology platform and information technology infrastructure. Dave has a depth of experience in Information Technology involving all aspects of information systems development and deployment, as well as process implementation and improvement.
Prior to Fishbowl, Dave was a Program Manager for Hewlett-Packard. He also held lead technical management positions at several IT services companies and served as the acting Director of Technology for the Special Libraries Association. Dave's career began at AT&T where he spent over 9 years with responsibilities in all phases of systems development and deployment.
Dave holds an M.S. degree in Information and Telecommunications Systems from Johns Hopkins University and a B.B.A degree in Management Information Systems from James Madison University.

"Simplifying Virtualization" Abstract:  Today’s IT managers spend significant time and energy dealing with an unwieldy assortment of applications, operating systems, and server environments. Increasingly, managers are employing virtualization technologies to re-engineer their IT infrastructures; results include reduced operational complexity, increased flexibility to address new business needs, and significantly lower costs.

Bio:   Joe Fagella brings over eighteen years of multi-platform, open systems, infrastructure and infrastructure management experience to the Dell team.  He has broad consultative experience helping large and small commercial and public sector customers solve their business and technical challenges.  His extensive storage industry experience and roles include consultant, evangelist, trainer, system engineer and engineering director.  He has advised countless organizations on disaster recovery, business continuity, data protection, data management, storage management, consolidation, capacity planning, performance planning, and virtualization solutions.  He has managed large and small integration projects and began his IT career as a system administrator.    He holds a BA in Communications from the State University of New York at Albany and many industry certifications.

 


 

Ahmar Abbas

Ahmar Abbas is  Senior Vice President at CSS Corporation where he is responsible for the company's global infrastructure management division.  Previously he was Vice President of ASP Services at Blackboard Inc. Previously he was Founder and Managing Director of Grid Technology Partners, a technology market research firm. He has held senior management positions at Ciena Corporation, Zaffire Inc, UUNet Technologies and Salomon Brothers.  He is the author of Grid Computing: A Practical Guide to Technology and Applications, (Charles River Media, 2004). Abbas has been frequently quoted in Business Week, Red Herring, CIO and other technology publications.


Cyndie Shadow

Cyndie Shadow came to the University of Phoenix in 2002 as a facilitator and was very attracted by the concept of the university and the benefit that it brings to students who might not have an opportunity to earn a degree. She moved from the classroom to campus administration and has become more and more enamored with what UoPX does in each local community to improve the lives of our students, faculty and staff. Cyndie has been with the University of Phoenix for 5 years and has served as a facilitator, campus college chair, director of academic affairs and campus director.  She has been fortunate to work with several university initiatives including course selection and development, diversity awareness and regional management training programs. Prior to joining the University of Phoenix, she worked as a marketing investment analyst and has significant experience in managing projects that lead to measurable marketing outcomes.  She has an MBA in corporate finance and is currently working on Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Science. When she is not focused on what is going at her local campus or completing her doctoral degree, she enjoys spending time with her husband and teenage daughter.

As a well known industry icon, Anthony Huang has been a successful entrepreneur with a solid track record of having started and sold four profitable business ventures. Along with two other individuals, Pamela Terry and Laura Ramey, Anthony Huang launched the Techxans organization back in 2000.  Techxans.org has sustained the ups and downs of the Information Technology industry for the past 7 years and continues to strive and grow in size and capabilities.  In 2001, Techxans reached national and international attention for helping to launch EnronX.org which was the largest Ex-Enron contact site and was mentioned on the front page of The Wall Street Journal and CIO Magazine.  In January 2007, Techxans formed Techxans InterActive Broadcast providing Internet TV broadcasting, strategic online advisory services for Techxans Corporate Members & Sponsoring companies.  Prior to Techxans, Anthony Huang was the CEO of Rexton InterActive Consulting that led the market in providing strategic web consulting for over 100 major clients across 23 different industries. Anthony also served as the CIO for 2 healthcare ventures.  Anthony began his career with Apple Computers and Ernst & Young and was a recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1998 with The Greater Houston Partnership.  He has been a speaker at numerous conferences including InformationWeek, Gartner Group Midsize Enterprise Summit, and Red Herring Venture Forums. Anthony graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Management Information Systems and lives in Sugar Land with his wife and two children.

Pam Terry has considerable experience in the technology industry beginning her foray into technology in 1994.  She has a proven track record in sales and marketing in data, voice, collocation, IT consulting, application development, ecommerce, and technology training.  She was most recently an Account Executive with Time Warner Telecom, a Major Accounts Consultant in the Business Division of Time Warner Cable and VP of Marketing for ERGOS Technology.  During her tenure in the industry, Pam had the pleasure of co-founding Techxans with Tony and even created the “Techxans” name.   Prior to Pam’s technology industry experience, Pam was Executive Director of the Galleria Chamber of Commerce and previously provided marketing consulting in the accounting firm industry.  Throughout her career, Pam has been involved in community and trade organizations, having obtained Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America, and serving on the boards of several charitable and membership groups such as the American Organ Transplant Association and the Association of IT Professionals.  Pam is currently serving as Regional Director of Powerful Women International's Houston-Connection, a women’s empowerment membership group.  Pam brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in association management and technology to her role as Executive Director of Techxans and Tech Execs.  Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Pam has been in Houston since 1971.
